Lighthouse Food Pantry is part of the Greater Rockford Pantry Coalition, which consist of 10 total pantries and organizations that work together to help put an end to hunger in our communities. We serve as a vital conduit through which businesses can contribute to the community in a meaningful way and surplus food can be maximized.
Lighthouse opens its doors for clients to choose their food and clothing items on a first come, first served basis. All clients (regardless of zip code and demographic location) are served at our pantry, and also referred to other local pantries for supplies. Each client is allowed a 3-5 day food supply. We serve 12-20 families
and approximately 35-50 individuals.
Lighthouse Food Pantry is open to the public every Third Thursday from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. Clients may also make appointments as needed. Services are provided in the lower level of Living Word Ministries.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Matthew 25:34-36

Our volunteers are committed to attending, hosting, and participating in events that help to provide funds we then use to sow into the community through service and resources.
Unity in the Community volunteers assist with annual fund raisers, quarterly meetings and attend trainings. Our commitment to participate in events provide funds to service the community. The annual crop walk, postal food drive, and food purchased from our food bank generates capital to advance our mission.
Unity in the community “Lighthouse Food Pantry” is a not-for-profit 501c (3) certified program. Our pantry has been established since the year 2000.
Our passion is to supply goods and services to the community through donation and volunteer efforts that will fill voids in low income families.
We serve the entire community from young adults to senior citizens, offering spiritual development, life skills, and mentorship.
